AUSTIN ? Casey Morris and Chynna Brown each scored 20 points to lead the Texas Tech women?s basketball team to a 66-59 win against rival Texas.
The Lady Raiders (13-4, 3-2 in Big 12 Conference) jumped out to a 23-9 lead early on thanks to Texas turnovers and transition baskets.
Texas slowly chipped away at the lead the rest of the game, getting to within 60-59 late in the game.
However, a Brown putback bucket and a Shauntal Nobles block helped preserve the win in the final minute.
Texas (7-9, 0-5) is off to its worst start in Big 12 history.
Tech resumes conference play at 7 p.m. Saturday against No. 23 Kansas (11-4, 2-2) in United Spirit Arena.
